00:12:55 Noelle Cole: Hi! We'll wait about 5 minutes to start 00:18:23 Winston Welch: Q: was this meeting link published for anyone to attend without a link? 00:43:13 Whitney Bosel: Are there grey rectangles blocking part of the slideshow at the top and at right for other people? 00:43:34 Cora Yamamoto: Yes 00:46:32 Jason DeMarco: Thank you Noelle and Troy for the presentation. 00:49:21 Glenn Otaguro: Good question Winston 00:52:00 Glenn Otaguro: Have you been reaching out the kupuna who don't attend zoom meetings and routinely use emails? 00:53:36 Glenn Otaguro: Albizia trees and Macarenga Mappa trees too 00:58:58 Winston Welch: 400,000 people affected. This project will not succeed unless a robust, sustained, engaged community outreach is done. Please look at other projects that have been delayed or stopped because of inadequate outreach. 15 people out of 400,000 on such an important topic tonight indicates that the public simply doesn’t know about these issues or how they may impact their neighborhoods. Case in point: going from single story to five or six story buildings is a major impact and people simply are unaware of issues like this. I also brought up about inadequate infrastructure, for example increasing density of population with no increase of parks is going against your goals. Sending a postcard or asking area representatives to include in their newsletters talking about how these plans may impact their neighborhoods is also an easy outreach. Another question is why are you using different flood models than the US Army Corps and the City with regards to Ala Wai Watershed. Theory’s how much more extensive flooding. 01:08:36 Winston Welch: Dina, thanks for bringing up Bill 10. Please understand why it was deferred. It was the public requesting it be delayed until there could be adequate input since granular understanding is absent from DPP at this time. The same will happen to this because once people understand the actual implications of massive increased density, increased building in flood prone areas and sea level rise, lack of additional parks, wholesale changes to characters of neighborhoods, etc. Perhaps you could have meetings in each area high schools with workshops to explain to neighbors, full page ads, radio, postcards, etc 01:11:17 Winston Welch: Well said Ellen 01:11:51 Glenn Otaguro: Yes Ellen 01:15:42 Winston Welch: Thanks for this time. We need to amp this up x 100. I’m happy to help as well. We need much of what is in these plans but not all of it and it needs more time to be considered, discussed, reconsidered, and so on until we get it right. Remember, you are coming from a planner perspective, not the average person. 01:19:26 Glenn Otaguro: non taxable income 01:20:10 Glenn Otaguro: maybe even a property tax credit 01:25:58 Troy Reinhalter: Please send any requests to pucdp@honolulu.gov or noelle.cole@honolulu.gov 01:27:29 Winston Welch: Thanks Lucinda. Kapahulu Diamond Head needs to be removed from PUC too 01:27:46 Winston Welch: And appendages to East Honolulu 01:29:23 Winston Welch: Well said Lucinda 01:32:00 Winston Welch: Silencing residents in these meetings is extremely counterproductive 01:33:16 Patrick Smith: Thank you.
